The Gaiety Players hold Performing Arts classes on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at the Gaiety Theatre, Akaroa.
Come and have fun whilst learning theatre skills, building confidence and working together to create ensemble pieces.
Our classes are based on singing and movement and you will learn:
– Singing
– Voice Production
– Acting and Stagecraft
– Movement and Dance
– Speech and Drama
Ages and Times:
Mini Dramas
This is a class for 5 and 6-year-olds. It is an introduction to performing and will focus on drama games and singing to build confidence, connect with others and work in a group.
Monday 3.45pm – 4.15pm
$50 per student per term
February 10th – 29th March
Little Dramas
This class is for 7, 8 and 9-year-olds. At this stage, students are ready to learn more skills and to develop their voice and performance skills. Learning will still be through games and singing but the games will be more targeted. There will be opportunities for individual and group work to extend students.
Wednesday 3.30pm – 4.15pm
$60 per student per term
February 12th – 1st April
Royal Dramas
This is a class for 10, 11 and 12-year-olds. Students at this level are ready for more development of skills and to work as individuals and in groups. They will focus on voice, drama, singing, improvisation and theatre skills. This will be done through a range of games, songs, scripts and movement exercises.
Wednesday 4.15pm – 5.15pm
$70 per student per term
February 12th – 8th April (there will be no lesson on the 19th as this is camp week at AAS, we will finish a week later.)
13+ Performance Group
After feedback from our students and parents, we are looking at creating a 13+ performance group that will combine acting and singing skills. If you are interested in this please let us know and we can decide whether we have the numbers to do this.

2020 Classes :
These classes are for those who are keen on singing and performance. All students are expected to participate fully in lessons and have a desire to be part of a performance group. Classes run during term time and dates will be confirmed for each term prior to the start.
